Taverna Athen Vohenstrauß in Vohenstrauss

We arrived, intending to go to the neighbouring restaurant, but the menu outside looked nicer for this one. Taken to our table, chilled water brought without asking, then olives & bread. Greek salad was very good, they do not skimp on the feta & tomatoes. Grilled octopus was melt in the mouth and very tasty. Moussaka was enormous, enough for two people. Lovely touch at the end was two pieces of chocolate cake brought to the table, basically a fondant. Delicious, very chocolaty & rich. The men who served us were very nice, friendly & jovial. Only downside was that it felt a little rushed.

Amazing!! We went to a couple of places around this area, and this was the best! They are so nice, and we had an incredible time. Definitely give it a visit.

There are two special waiters. They are alone at work and they run like crazy to meet everyone's needs. They are very kind and always smiling. Too bad there are two elderly people who are probably the owners at the entrance without doing practically anything and ... it's not nice to see each other. The food that was recommended to me was great and the price maybe a little above average in Greece. I will be back and I hope the owners take these gentlemen to work so hard.

Service was 10/10 , the food was much better than the busy restaurant next door. Would recommend here.

When my favorite nearby place is closed, this is my favorite place. Solid Greek and Italian classics. Adequate house wine.

I went here with my daughter. The waiter was kind and attentive. The food was good, but not amazing. My daughter had the "three steak" dish which consisted of three small cuts beef. It was decently seasoned, but not memorable. The steaks had no char and tasted like they were steamed (probably pan fried while still wet). They also had some dried herbs sprinkled on top, which made the experience of eating it unpleasant. If you don't know what I mean, just sprinkle some dried herbs in your tongue and chew on them. Sadly, I can cook a far better steak. My daughter really liked the french fries that came with the dish, however. I had the moussaka. I've never had it before, so I cannot tell you if it was amazing by local standards, but it was fairly underwhelming. I'm going to order the dish at some other place and see how things compare. I might go back here, but would not make it a high priority. Taste-wise, I'd say this place was about a 3. I'm bumping the score to a 4 for the nice ambiance and service.

Good unpretentious Greek food at decent prices, good atmosphere (esp. on the terrace), and friendly staff. Recommended.

We were at this place last night for dinner. Nothing special but to the Italians I say to stay away from it. They brought me an unlikely and very rough mixed grilled meat. I just tell you that in the course they presented me a half Wurstel ... yes you have understood a half grilled Wustel in the mixed grill ... unwatchable, a slice of chicken breast, and a Hamburger that was made of meat that seemed homogenized so much was minced fine ... impalpable, inconsistent that melted in the mouth ... impressive. I ate everything just because I was dying of hunger ... but it's not a place I'd recommend.

Very good value for money! We ate there twice during our stay in Athens and it was just great. You just feel comfortable! Definitely recommended.

Nice personnel, however some dishes weren't properly described (in English) and I got a bit disappointed when I got my food as it wasn't what I expected. My husband rated his food as ok as well.

4 stars for food, however the service was slow even for laid back standards. I had to ask for the bill two times. Total wait time for the bill of 15 mins.

Good restaurant, would certainly eat there again, prices are keen, food is good. The local competition is also very good, you can't go wrong eating anywhere on this Square! I had the lamb chops!

I was a little skeptical of this establishment but I was pleasantly surprised!! The service (owner? manager?) was impeccable, the food was good and the air was cold! The sangria was cold, too. I’m picky with my Greek food and they exceeded my expectations.

Absolutely fantastic food! Fresh Sangria, perfect plate sizes & great atmosphere. There are many choices in Athens, but if you are in the area do not pass this one up! PS for a bit of extra spice, ask for the homemade chili sauce.

What a great place to sit outside and enjoy the delicious food~ I had the best waitstaff, friendly and talkative! Good mediterranean dishes with excellent prices~ Definitely a good choice!!

Extremely friendly, probably best describes it. A cheerful waiter who is joking, patient and often asks about where he is. I can only recommend it. Food was also good value for money.

The food was marginally mediocre. The interior decoration was reminiscent of Greek taverns in America (but also other places abroad) 20 years ago. The prices are unacceptably high. The second star is due solely to satisfactory service. I will not go again

Nice place but I was expected something more from food.

Tavern in the residential area, a few meters from the Divani Caravel hotel. It has a rich, average quality menu and equally average prices. Polite and helpful staff

Great Greek foods with reasonable price. Bread and water were offered and also water melon at the end (free), which was nice :) We got grilled calamari and Moussaka. The calamari was an average size, lemon source was great. The top layer of the moussaka was thick and soft. We both were happy. Stuff members were friendly and provided a relaxing atmosphere. Recommended :)

Perfectly done Greek classics with friendly service. A great place for our first meal in Athens.

They gave us free bread and olives as an appetizer and a HUGE pitcher of water, which is completely unheard of in Europe. Water with ice cubes = glorious. We over-ordered and got two starters and two salads, which we didn't finish. They gave us a complimentary fruit dessert, and it was refreshing and delightful. Great service and yummy food.

Found this wonderfully friendly place on a rainy night in Athens. I had a hungry group of police and firefighters from all over the USA that arrived late. On short notice, the manager and his employees welcomed 24 of us at midnight and proceeded to provide a huge meal of fresh vegetables, main courses, beer, beverages, and all with music and helpful guidance on where to visit. We loved it so much, that two weeks later, after traveling the country, we visited again on our last night. Bravo. Yamas, and Efkaritzo Poly

Great quality food!!

I stay at Divani hotel nearby so i decided to give this place a try. I loved the food we ordered today. Traditional Greek stuff tomatoes and bream fish ... finished it all and was so happy with the food. Great atmosphere!!!!

This being my first 'awake' night in Athens, I decided to find a place nearby my home for the next few months. Chris (aka Christo) welcomed me and treated me attentively while I enjoyed the calamari and the lamb chops. Both were excellent, and I would recommend it highly. The house red wine I found very good. It is a bit on the sweet side for some tastes--I found it quite refreshing.

We had a bad experience. We were kept waiting for half an hour without any response. If u love Street food, best avoid this place
